A journey that started back in 2015 came to a wonderfully satisfying conclusion at the 2016 Stretch Festival, with the exhibit of the interactive MyCut art installation.
Synchronised renditions of Eric Bogle's inspirational song, Shelter, were loaded into a computerised video editing application that emulated the role of a video editor. Festival goers were able to create a unique compilation of the song by selecting, from a total of some 40 video/audio tracks, those tracks they thought may mix well together. Sometimes their creative insight would be rewarded by a mix that worked remarkably well. At other times, the mix was less compatible. No problem! drop some out, add some in, and run it again. It was a great pleasure to witness the joy and amazement of Festival patrons, especially those who were contributing artists, as they dynamically experimented with different mixes and viewed the compilations of their creation.
