New-born Lullaby:
Music and lyrics by Walter Bennett.
Composed immediately following the birth of Walter and Sue's first grandchild, Eli Christiaan Vaughan van der Merwe, on the 2nd July 2013.
Walter saw potential for the verse and chorus melody of this simple composition to be repackaged into a more substantial choral work. To this end, a bridge was added to a three verse, three chorus structure. Roger Palmer was then asked to come up with lyrics suitable for an ELM piece. The end result is Wonderful Life!.
In addition to recording 'Wonderful Life!' participants will also be invited to record their performance of 'New-born Lullaby', the song from which 'Wonderful Life!' was derived. The audio recordings of this song will be used as a sound track for the movie credits.
