Background:

The house featured in 'House on the Hill' is not fictitious. It was located on a hill at the corner of SouthWest highway and the entry road to Harvey, past which many travellers did indeed pass by.
The many big trees around the house 'sighed' when blown about by the East wind.
Historically, the house was the original post office before Roger's Grandad owned it. Roger remembers the posting envelope slit in the wall.
Being a timber house with bare timber floors and no ceiling, it was very drafty and creaked audibly in sympathy with the natural winter air conditioning.
The house was eventually dismantled and re erected at a Myalup beach youth camp, part of which may still exist.

Roger's paternal Grandmother died of cancer when Roger's Father was 15, hence the reference to 'disease' and 'cut down in their prime'.
